Barcelona Step Up Jesse Bisiwu Pursuit
Barcelona have stepped up their pursuit of highly rated Club Brugge winger Jesse Bisiwu, but negotiations remain complicated as the Belgian club are unwilling to accept the Catalan side's current offer, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Contract Situation Gives Barça Hope
The winger has no intention of extending his current contract, as he is not satisfied with how the team manages the player, increasing Barcelona's hopes of securing a deal.
Tensions increased after Bisiwu was surprisingly left on the bench for most of Club NXT's UEFA Youth League semi-final against Real Madrid despite being one of the team's standout performers. Club NXT manager Tim Wolf benched the winger only for the dying minutes of the game, in which they eventually lost on a penalty shootout.
Why Barcelona Want the Belgian Talent
Barcelona views Bisiwu as a potential replacement should Rooney Bardghji leave the club after struggling for regular first-team opportunities. If that’s the case, Bisiwu will be an ideal replacement for Rooney in the first team.
For 18-year-old Jesse Bisiwu, Barcelona are ready to offer a split of first-team minutes and a key role at Barça Athletic considering his level of performance at the youth level for Belgium and Club Brugge.
Negotiations Continue
Sporting director Deco and chief scout João Amaral have already held multiple meetings with Club Brugge officials and even traveled to Belgium as Barcelona intensifies negotiations.
Barcelona admires Bisiwu's versatility, explosive acceleration, and one-on-one ability. Comfortable on either wing, the Belgian youngster is regarded as one of the country's brightest attacking prospects.
