Barça identify Álvarez as priority signing
Julian Alvarez is the primary target for Barcelona this summer, as their star striker Robert Lewandowski is leaving. Barcelona's manager and management identified Alvarez as a long-term tactical fit for the club some time ago.
Barcelona set strict transfer limit
Now, Barcelona has clarified its position regarding the fees in the Alvarez saga. Barca decided not to pay more than 100M€ to secure the player's signature. As per Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona management is aware that Atletico Madrid officials decide not to sell the player to a direct rival like Barcelona, so Barca wants Julian Alvarez to push a move to Barcelona.
Pressure now shifts to the player
Barcelona’s stance is that Julian Alvarez should pressure Atletico Madrid for a move to Barcelona at the minimum fee possible, as Barcelona is ready to pay €100M. Barcelona is expecting a move from the player in the coming weeks; meanwhile, Barca is also monitoring cheap alternative profiles for the summer.
