Barcelona’s chances of signing Alessandro Bastoni are starting to diminish, based on the latest reports from SPORT. The Italian defender had considered leaving Inter Milan, especially after the painful incident that denied Italy a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. However, Inter’s management has offered him full emotional and professional support to help him recover from that setback and encourage him to continue his long-term journey with the club.
Bastoni has a strong emotional connection with the Nerazzurri, and Inter’s leaders want to use that bond to persuade him to stay. While the club has not completely ruled out a possible transfer abroad, Barcelona’s budget for the defender is reportedly much lower than Inter Milan’s valuation. This makes the move increasingly unlikely for the Spanish giants.
Barcelona is also focusing on bringing in new players for the wing back, winger, and striker positions in the upcoming summer transfer window. This further complicates their efforts to acquire Bastoni. Their financial constraints compared to other top European clubs put them at a disadvantage in this race.
Meanwhile, clubs like Liverpool, Bayern Munich, and Real Madrid may enter the race with considerably stronger financial offers. Inter Milan is aware of this possibility and has started scouting for potential replacements in case Bastoni leaves.
According to SPORT, Inter is actively looking at Oumar Solet of Udinese and Tarik Muharemović of Sassuolo as potential candidates to fill the left center-back position if Bastoni departs in the summer. The Italian defender has a contract with Inter Milan until June 30, 2028, which bolsters the club’s position in any future negotiations.
