According to Mundo Deportivo, Barca will not go for an elite left winger if Marcus Rashford leaves; instead, they will prefer a very young and cheap winger with a lot of potential. The Catalans have a couple of options in front of them in Spain and abroad.
Ez Abde
The ex-Barcelona winger leaves the Catalans in 2023 for Betis for 7.5 million euros, and with 50% rights on any future sale, Abde is one of the key players for Betis with 6 goals and 5 assists in the league this season from 22 matches.
The left winger is also a key player for the Moroccan national team. Reports indicate that Barca had a buyback clause for Abde in 2025 and 2024, but it's not clear if it's there for 2026.
Victor Muñoz.
Munoz has a rare history of growing through the ranks of La Masia and La Fabrica and later played for the Real Madrid B team and first team; recently the winger debuted for the Spanish national team with a goal. His speed is his strength while attacking.
However, pursuing this deal will be tough for Barca, as Real Madrid already holds 50% of future rights, and the latest reports suggest that Real will block any move from Barca to Munoz.
Andreas Schjelderup
Schjelderup is the most exciting player on this list; the Scandinavian is now playing for the Portuguese club Benfica by delivering exceptional performance in both the league and the UCL. Barca fans already saw his potential on the left wing while facing Benfica in the UCL.
The Norwegian is also part of the golden era of the Norwegian national team and is expected to be a key player in the upcoming FIFA World Cup. The player has a contract until 2028 and a release clause of 100 million euros. Benfica is trying to extend his contract until 2031, but if the negotiation fails, he will be on the market with a price tag of around 30 million euros.
What are your thoughts on these players? Or should we go with Jan Virgili? Or Rashford? Feel free to comment.
